Meditation Classes at Lancaster University
The Chaplaincy Centre, Quiet Room
Tuesdays 6-7pm
Classes run each week during University term time only.
Classes start back Tuesday 6th October 2009.
By following the practical advice given at these classes, we can
transform our mind and our life, fulfil our human potential, and find
everlasting peace and happiness.
Each class
consists of a breathing meditation, a talk and an opportuntiy to
discuss in small groups. Everyone
is welcome, from complete beginners, to advanced meditators.
No need to book, just drop-in. £3 per class
What to expect in a class
Introductory classes begin with a simple guided meditation exercise to reduce stress, tension, and distractions.
This short
meditation is followed by a talk on how to apply Buddhist principles
into daily life. This may include topics such as improving
relationships, gaining peace of mind, learning to love, and dealing
with anger.
There is then a second short guided meditation designed to help us gain deeper experience of the subject of the class.
Finally the
class then breaks for a short informal discussion, followed by a
question and answer session. This gives you the opportunity to share
your own experiences and discuss with other people who have the same
wish to improve their lives.
After the class
After the class there is a chance to relax and the ideas presented in the teaching with other participants.
What do I need to do to attend?
You do not need any previous experience to attend these classes. Also, you do not need to pre-register.
Why not come
along and see for yourself what meditation can do for you? Everyone is
welcome, regardless of background or beliefs. You will be joining
people from all walks of life. Dress comfortably. People sit on regular
chairs or on cushions on the floor, depending on their preference.
